How Invest Global builds its country research

What the data is, where it comes from, how the score works, how often it updates and what it cannot tell you.

What is covered

207 markets are in the country list: 195 countries recognized by the UN plus 12 territories and de facto states. 199 have an investability score. 13 sectors have exposure scores. Data version 2026-10-09.

The investability score

The score runs from 0 to 100, and higher is better. It blends six pillars with fixed weights (model 2.1). Each indicator is mapped to 0 to 100 with fixed anchors, so a country's score does not move just because other countries changed. If an indicator is missing it is dropped and the rest are re-weighted. The confidence label shows how much of the weight had data.

Sector exposure scores

An exposure score shows how large and relevant a sector is in a country, compared with other countries. It is not a measure of how attractive a sector is. For each sector the model takes a short list of sourced indicators, ranks each country against all others, and averages the ranks with published weights. A score is shown only when indicators holding at least 60 percent of the weight have data. Nothing is filled in.

Each figure on a country page names its source and the year it describes. The sources in use are below. Licences are the publishers' own terms.

How often it updates

The data refresh runs every day at 05:17 UTC. Sources that publish less often are skipped until they have something new, so a source's own as-of date can be older than the refresh. The data status page marks any source that is overdue.

Quality checks

Values outside plausible bounds, or that jump implausibly between years, are held back and never changed. They are listed in quarantine.json (2 at this version). Every figure keeps its source, period and as-of date.
